Move-In Information: Current Undergraduate Students

Fall 2019

Cornell's undergraduate residences open for the Fall 2019 semester on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24. Please be aware that those first two days of Opening Weekend will be extremely crowded with new student move-in, some areas of campus may have restricted access. We are highly encouraging returning students to return to campus any time after 2pm Saturday, August 24.

When to move in:

We have two Move-In days for new first-year and transfer students this year: Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24. It will be important for you and other RETURNING students to arrive on campus after 2pm on Saturday or any day/time thereafter. Campus will be extremely congested with new student arrival and North Campus/West Campus and Collegetown areas will have specific traffic patterns that returning students will not be able to enter.

Unloading & Parking

Bins/carts will be available at buildings to assist with moving belongings from unloading point to building/rooms. It is important that you adhere to these loading locations and do not drive on any pedestrian walkways not designated for these locations. 

Please know these spaces are 20-30 minute unloading zones only. Once unloaded, you will have to relocate your vehicle to one of the following areas: 

North: A Lot

West: University Ave Lot
 

West Campus

On the perimeter of west campus, there will be signed loading zones.

 

            Along West Avenue:

  • Across from Baker Tower: parking spaces designated as loading zones
  • Across from Founders & Lyons: the pull-off loading zone on the Slope side

Near Bethe & Keeton:

  • Mary Ann Wood Drive (just behind William Keeton House): parking spaces designated as loading zones
  • Forest Park Lane (just behind Noyes Community Recreation Center: parking spaces designated as loading zones

Near Cook House:

  • The loading zone along Cook-main just off of University Avenue
  • The loading spaces along 109 McGraw Place

 

Gothics Way and Becker Drive above the loading dock will NOT be accessible. Carts will be available at buildings for use. 

 

 

North Campus

 

We’ve outlined for you below those areas of north campus where you will be permitted to drive and park temporarily to load your vehicle. It is important that you adhere to these loading locations and do not drive on any pedestrian walkways not designated for these locations.

 

  • Mews Hall loading dock area
  • Dickson Hall loading dock area
  • Robert Purcell Community Center circle off of Jessup road: specific parking spaces designated as loading zones
  • Program House Drive: specific parking spaces designated as loading zones
  • North side of Jessup Road loading spaces
  • Risley Parking Lot loading spaces
  • Latino Living Center parking lot loading spaces
  • Ecology House parking lot loading spaces
  • Akwe:kon parking lot loading spaces (accessible from new driveway off of Triphammer Road)

 

 

 

South Campus/Collegetown

 

 

Residents of Cascadilla Hall

Please note that there is no parking between the Gorge and Cascadilla Hall. You must not park in fire lanes. The best locations for you to park and load are the City of Ithaca Garage just to the south of Cascadilla Hall and the Williams Street parking lot at the corner of Williams Street and Stewart Avenue. 

 

Residents of Sheldon Court

Limited parking spots are available in the Sheldon Court loading dock. The best locations for you to park and load are the City of Ithaca Garage just to the south of Cascadilla Hall and the Williams Street parking lot at the corner of Williams Street and Stewart Avenue.

 

Residents of Schuyler House

Please park and load in designated parking spaces only. 

 

Residents of Edgemoor

Unloading spaces and parking is available at the building. 

 

Residents of 2 Forest Park

Several parking spaces in the Forest Park parking lot will be designated specifically for loading.  

Move-In Requirements

  • Families may bring only ONE vehicle on to campus.
  • Vehicles over 14 feet long will not be permitted during move-in, with the exception of SUVs, pick-up trucks, or standard vans/minivans.
  • U-Hauls or any other oversized vehicles will not be permitted during move-in.
