Ramadan 2019 for those observing at Cornell

26 April 2019

Ramadan Mubarak! As Ramadan begins the evening of Sunday, May 5th, we'd like to share with you the resources available to students, staff, and faculty on campus who are observing this month of fasting.

MosqueExtended Hours

Several of our All You Care to Eat dining rooms will offer extended hours until 9pm until Commencement Weekend: North Star Dining Room (which features our Halal station, through May 21), Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery, and Cook House Dining Room (through May 17). Guests may use a meal swipe or pay the dinner door price for each meal as usual. Our Commencement Eve Dinner at Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery is until 9pm on Saturday, May 25.

Take-Out Containers

For those who wish to take their meals out before sundown and enjoy them later, we will have disposable take-out containers available upon request for those observing Ramadan. Just ask at the door-checker station. Guests may use a meal swipe or pay the dinner door price for each meal as usual.

The disposable takeout containers will be available at the above dining rooms through Friday, May 24, and at Cook House Dining Room on west campus and Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery on north campus through the end of Ramadan on June 4.

Cornell Dining also offers reusable take-out containers at several locations on central, west, and north campus. These containers are available for purchase as usual, and may be exchanged for a clean container at each meal.

Breakfast Boxes

"Pre-fast" meal boxes are available for those who'd like to eat before sunrise, before their daily fast begins. These box meals may be picked up the night before, and will be available at the units with extended hours listed above. Guests may use a meal swipe or pay the breakfast door price for each meal at the time of pickup.

What's open when?

As always, please check to confirm which eateries are open and closed, and to check menus for our All You Care to Eat dining rooms.
