Each year, millions of disposable paper and styrofoam containers end up in landfills after just one use. As part of Cornell Dining's Sustainability Action Plan, we're taking steps to reduce the use of single-use disposable containers, and we're expanding on last year's popular program at Okenshields, RPME, and North Star by adding Becker House Dining Room and Jansen's Dining Room!
Reusable containers are now available for West Campus visitors during breakfast and lunch meal periods at Becker House Dining Room and Jansen's Dining Room at Hans Bethe House. The containers are available at the door-checker station at each of these eateries.
Okenshields, Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery, and North Star Dining Room customers still have the option to use an Eco-Takeout reusable container to take their lunch or dinner to go.
West Campus dining rooms are not offering reusable takeout containers during the dinner meal period, as dinner is an important part of the living experience in the West Campus House System. We encourage you to dine with us in the evenings, so that you can get to know your neighbors and develop relationships that will last a lifetime.
The reusable container has a one-time charge of just $7.50, and when you bring it back rinsed on your next visit, you can swap it for a freshly washed and sanitized reusable container for your next meal. You're welcome to buy yours at any of the participating eateries, and bring it back to any of the participating eateries.Buy your Eco-Takeout reusable container with Big Red Bucks and there's no sales tax. Or, you can pay $7.50 plus tax on CornellCard, MealChoice, or any major credit card accepted at Cornell Dining eateries.
