An update on Willard Straight Hall's eateries

19 August 2017

Some major projects on campus go more smoothly than others, and an important project this summer to replace kitchen hoods, fire suppression systems, and ductwork in Willard Straight Hall's kitchen facilities won't be finished until the middle of the fall semester. As a result, we can't do most of the usual food preparation and cooking in Willard Straight Hall to serve in Okenshields and the Ivy Room.

Willard Straight HallOur contingency plan for the next few weeks is to prepare food at the Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery and Trillium kitchens to serve at Okenshields and the Ivy Room. The food will be transported to the Straight in much the same way our Cornell Catering team brings food to events around campus.

At Okenshields, we'll be serving a special rotating menu each day for lunch, and matching the RPME menu for dinner. At the Ivy Room, we'll be serving southwestern burritos and quesadillas, pizza and strombolis, Pan-Asian fare, plenty of our fabulous FreshTake grab-and-go items, and more. In both locations, we'll be using disposable serviceware temporarily.

This approach is a big challenge for our team, but we know they're up for it, and we appreciate your patience as we work out any wrinkles while continuing to serve meals as smoothly as possible at Okenshields and the Ivy Room. Once the work's done, we look forward to introducing you to our new menus at the Ivy Room Grill and Straight from the Garden salad station!
