SCL Recognition Program

In Student & Campus Life we Inspire Transformation and while that is often personally rewarding, our work typically occurs behind the scene and outside of the spotlight.  In SCL, we know our staff do remarkable work, day in and day out and we choose to see our staff and to celebrate the impact they have in transforming the lives of our students and each other.


Our “ACE” recognition program encourages several and varied types of recognition for both managers and peers to recognize staff in a way that is efficient, easily accessible, consistent across the division and impactful for our staff.

  • ACE – Program Overview

    • Recognition Toolkit (PDF)
    • Administering Awards – Funding for the recognition program lands with each department, with a goal to match 0.5% of payroll of staff salaries for each areas. Please consult with your department finance manager to understand your available funding and how funds will be managed/distributed. Interdepartmental spending (a purchase from another SCL department) should use an object code 6585-800 and all other spending on recognition should use object code 6430-800.
  • ACE –  Obtaining ACE Recognition Items -  Items should be ordered in bulk annually or at the beginning of each semester.  Managers should fill out the order form and send to their finance manager.  – See attached PDF file
  • If during the course of the year additional items are needed use the process identified below.

        • Athletic Event Tickets
          • Tickets to most Athletics sporting events are available for managers to give to staff and one guest as a form of recognition (Wrestling and Men’s Hockey excluded). To obtain tickets for the event of your choice, please review game schedule and contact your unit Finance Manager.

        • Bowling 
          • One free round of bowling at Helen Newman are available for managers to give to their team as group recognition.  To obtain a certificate for a free round of bowling, please contact Bill Larock at wls6@cornell.edu.
      • Discounted Items for Individuals
        • Golf 
          • Discounted rounds of golf at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course are available for managers to give to up to four people (SCL staff members or SCL staff members and their guests) as a form of recognition.  To purchase discounted rounds of golf, please contact your unit Finance Manager.  The cost to the department is $60 for two players and one cart or $100 for four players of golf and two carts.

        • Dining $5 Coupons 
          • Ten, $5 off coupons for Cornell dining retail locations can be purchased for $40 (a 20% savings). To purchase a coupon book of 10 tickets, please contact the Residential and Event Services meal plan coordinator at dining@cornell.edu. The cost to the department is $40.

        • Wellness Massage
          • A certificate for 20% off a wellness massage provided by Cornell Health

        • Sports Wellness Clinic (biking or running)
          • A certificate for 33% off a Sports Clinic for biking or running provided by Cornell Health

          • Coupons for $5 off any purchase of $10 or more for managers to give to staff as a form of recognition.  To obtain additional coupons contact your unit Finance Manager

      • Discounted Items for Groups
        • Dining – Meal Tickets (breakfast, lunch or dinner)
          • Enjoy lunch as a team! Order group meal tickets for breakfast, lunch or dinner at one MealChoice price of $7.50/ticket
          • To order tickets, please contact the Residential and Event Services meal plan coordinator at dining@cornell.edu.

        • Cayuga Lake Cruise for up to 10 ppl
          • Enjoy a boat ride on one of the sailing center’s scuba or sail boats.  This excursion can fit a maximum of 10 people and cost $50/hr to rent the entire boat including a skilled driver
